Cepia, LLC began in 2002 when a group of talented individuals led by a visionary veteran of the toy industry gathered together at a small office in Saint Louis to start a company from the ground up.  After successful forays into consumer goods design and  the sale of a proprietary trigger/pump device, Cepia settled into doing what they do best… making toys.  Their first success was built from the ideations they’d mastered in consumer goods… color-changing LED lights.  Putting these kid-friendly lights in a soft plush teddy bear – Glo-E was born. Glo-E is about the magic of a child's wishes and dreams.  Glo-e is a part of a wonderful bedtime ritual recognized by childhood development specialists and parents alike.  More than a teddy bear, these color-changing light-up animal friends provide soft soothing light in a child's bedroom, provide a captivating rainbow of hues, and are so soft and huggable, children adore them.  The Glo-e line of toys also has charming stories with beautiful illustrations dealing with how not to be afraid of the dark, getting rid of bad dreams, and adventures in magical lands, making friends, and helping. This toyline set a high standard, whose bar was constantly raised continuing forward with each new item. 

Cepia became a recognized name, both in the US and internationally, as a toy company consistently developing and delivering unique toys.  Cepia’s success came from its fast paced design-to-market capabilities, phenomenal in-house creativity, and the desire to consistently evolve – and to market fun, exciting, quality product. The next round of magic began in August of 2009 when Cepia released a new toy into the marketplace.  Its name? -  ZhuZhu Pets™.  It didn’t take long for these fun and furry hamsters to capture the hearts and imaginations of children all over the world. By Christmas, they were the must-have toy of the season. ZhuZhu Pets then went on to win the coveted TOTY (Toy of the Year) awards in 3 major categories:  Toy of the Year, Girl’s Toy of the Year, and Innovative Toy of the Year.  Now, with the addition of Kung Zhu™, ZhuZhu Princess™ ZhuZhu Babies™, and ZhuZhu Puppies™ the Zhu phenomenon continues to grow.

Our initial introduction to Schoenhut® toy pianos was a case of love at first sight. Since 1996 when we joined forces with Len's brother Frank Trinca in the operation of Schoenhut Piano Company, the thrill of designing, manufacturing, and marketing these precious little instruments has not wavered. We traveled back and forth for five years between our home in St. Augustine, Florida and the Schoenhut factory in Rochester, New York. When a spacious warehouse facility in St. Augustine became available, after much discussion the three of us agreed to relocate the business. Frank would serve as a consultant and help at trade shows, while we would concentrate on expanding the business. Along with many of Albert Schoenhut's original designs, we began offering new styles and colors each year. All prototypes are designed and hand-built by Len.

Recently introduced are Piano Pals that "grow with your child," as well as mid-sized 49-key stringed pianos. The stringed pianos incorporate perfect pitch and true piano sound, the only piano of its kind in the world. We also have a patent pending on another revolutionary, state-of-the-art toy piano. Although Albert designed musical instruments with children in mind, we were delighted to discover that many professional musicians regard Schoenhut toy pianos as serious concert instruments. John Cage started the ball rolling in 1948 when he composed "Suite for Toy Piano." Since then, interest has skyrocketed. This trend gives a new perspective about Schoenhut and attests to the high quality of our products.

For several years, a staff of craftsmen (numbering 20 to 36, depending on the season) hand-built all Schoenhut toy pianos and other musical products at our factory in Florida. As the business grew, so did our exposure. Competitors began manufacturing slightly altered copies of Schoenhut toy pianos in China. Unfortunately, the majority of retailers demanded "lower costs" over "made in the USA." To stay in business and remain competitive, most Schoenhut toy pianos are now manufactured at our facilities overseas. Many Schoenhut products are still made here in the USA, such as thumb pianos, psalteries, and harps, with other musical instruments soon to follow. Our promise to you is 100% customer satisfaction.
