Steps4Kids to Write Modern Manuscript is an approximately 1-½ hour instructional handwriting DVD to help teach slanted printing to support programs such as D’Nealian© and McDougal, Littell©, which are used in schools and homes in the US and internationally. Using footage shot from the writer’s perspective (video modeling), both upper and lowercase letters are demonstrated on lined paper. Viewers watch how the letters are correctly written first, then follow the second writing demonstration to write the letters themselves. Letters are taught in groupings of letters that share similar letter strokes (as opposed to alphabetically) to help emerging writers or those with special needs learn how to write their letters by building upon the key foundational stroke. To build phonetics and literacy skills, over 100 words, most of which are from the high frequency Dolch word list used by schools, are introduced in colorful graphics shown before each letter demonstration. To reinforce reading skills, "Look2Write" spelling and writing games are interspersed after the letter groupings. Viewers are shown the words used in the colorful graphics and after the words are spoken, try to find the words as they are read. .

To make practicing fun, drawing breaks are also used throughout to teach students how to draw basic objects using the letters taught in the DVD. A helpful "Introduction" section is also included for teachers and parents to offer tips upon how to teach the correct pencil grip, correct common writing or grip problems, support left handed writers and more! Features diversity among children to be welcoming to all. Made in San Diego, California, and all products meet the USA materials safety requirements.
