How Dandelion / Re-Think It Inc is a Green Company

The news about the health of the environment and the wildlife around us, have many people asking themselves…what can I do to help, what can I do better? How can I keep my family safe? Dandelion, is taking action to help families do just that. Begun 20 years ago as ABC Development, this family business took a step in an exciting new direction in August 2008 renaming itself Re-Think It, Inc., and launching an eco-friendly division, Dandelion, Earth Friendly Goods. As a small family business with experience manufacturing juvenile products and housewares, the owners felt they were ready to apply their expertise to similar products, manufactured from a Green perspective. Re-Think It is about re-thinking business practices, material choices, dye processes, and packaging. They plan to phase out conventional product lines by the end of 2010. They strive to be a more socially responsible and focus solely on manufacturing Dandelion’s eco-friendly products, made affordable for mainstream families. Dandelion is taking steps, applying green principles whenever possible, and understands that "Going 100% Green" won’t happen overnight. They are constantly researching new sources, materials, and processes to expand Green choices available to customers. They strive to "grow" products even greener, as well as to broaden the product line like a green umbrella covering toys, feeding, fashion, and beyond. They are committed to products, created for children and families, to be Green and also practical. So Dandelion is about balance: first and foremost focused on green; safer for families and the environment, yet also practical for busy moms; and affordable for growing families. Dandelion is about innovation, using new materials, like bioplastics, to provide alternative choices. And finally, giving back as a responsible organization participating in the community. The Dandelion Foundation has just kicked off a search for appropriate Green, health-related causes, and non-profits, to support through contributions. Families want to live greener, "planet friendly" lifestyles, but many have limited access and limited knowledge about organics, natural materials, and bioplastics. Part of the green initiative is education. The website is developing learning pages, FAQs, and links, to enlighten buyers. The Greener-by-the-Minute section aims to reach out to families with quick monthly tips about the environment, recycling, and community events. In order to stay informed, and up-to-date on state-of-the-art technology, they are proud members of the Organic Trade Association, the Natural Products Association, and other Green alliances, trade groups, etc. Dandelion is only one year old, but strives to be a leader in the Green Business industry.
